Long before Pirates of the Caribbean, Gilbert & Sullivan’s popular comic operetta had been entertaining audiences since its first performance in 1879! It’s full of well-known songs such as ‘I am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General’, ‘A Policeman’s Lot is Not a Happy One’, ‘Poor Wand’ring One’, ‘Hail, Poetry’, and memorable characters including the Pirate King and Major-General Stanley. Will young Frederick escape from his reluctant apprenticeship to the Pirate crew and marry the girl he loves, and will the Major-General’s many daughters escape the clutches of the Pirates, with the help of the hapless local police?

A non-professional production by Southgate Opera  Running Time: 2 hrs 30 mins including interval.
