Come and Sing The Sound of Music

We will explore what makes this Rodgers and Hammerstein musical a true classic and why it has such a universal appeal.
Set in Austria in 1938, the musical tells the story of Maria, who takes a job as governess to a large family while she decides whether to become a nun. She falls in love with the children, and eventually their widowed father, Captain von Trapp.
We will be visiting many songs from the musical such as “Edelweiss”, “My Favourite Things”, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”,
“Do-Re-Mi”, and the title song “The Sound of Music”.

We’ll be discovering the haunting and timeless musical masterpiece – The Phantom of the Opera. In this workshop, we’ll delve into what makes Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical so captivating and explore the drama, romance, and mystery that have enchanted audiences for decades.

We’ll immerse ourselves in some of its unforgettable songs, including “The Music of the Night,” “All I Ask of You,” “Masquerade,” “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again,” and, of course, the dramatic and powerful title track, “The Phantom of the Opera.

Potters Bar Community Choir is under the stewardship of Musical Director Luke Saydon and we would love you to join us. We meet every Thursday evening term time at Wyllyotts Theatre.
